My grandmother used to make homemade strawberry popsicles in tiny paper cups tucked into the freezer. Nothing fancy. Just simple summer magic.
This year, my toddlers and I have been eating so many popsicles on our porch. Their sweet, sticky hands explore the nice cold treat. I’m lucky if half of it makes it into their mouths. But, hey, that’s why we’re enjoying them on the porch and not inside my home.
We love store-bought, simple popsicles. But sometimes, homemade is fun. Nostalgic. Plus, it’s usually cheaper too since I already have most of the ingredients needed at home.
Speaking of nostalgia, if you are looking for simple, 90s inspired summer activities for your toddlers, I’ve got you covered.

Homemade Strawberry Popsicles
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen strawberries (slightly thawed)
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
(or dairy-free vanilla yogurt – we have a dairy allergy in our house and we love Silk’s Coconut Milk based as a substitute). - 2–4 tbsp milk of choice
- 1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
- splash of vanilla extract
- tiny pinch of salt
Instructions
- Blend everything until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into popsicle molds (or little paper cups for the nostalgic version).
- Freeze 4–6 hours or overnight.
- Run warm water over molds to release.
Slow summer day ideas for enjoying your homemade strawberry popsicles
Sit on your front porch or front yard and enjoy while watching the neighbors go by.
Give them to your toddlers as an afternoon snack before turning on the sprinkler for some water-fun (and to rinse the sticky off).
Pack some in a cooler and bring them to a nature park, pond, or other area that you like. Find a spot in the grass or a bench to sit on and enjoy.
Make some before your next playdate with friends and you’ll instantly be the cool mom (give the other parent a heads up about messy treats, though)!
Let your kids help you make them. The recipe is forgiving enough to not become ruined if little ones drop, spill, or eat some of the ingredients in the process.
No patience for popsicles, these also happen to make delicious smoothies. When we can’t wait, I simply pour the mix into my favorite kid’s smoothie cups and they become an instant snack!
